To have an exciting start to the year, we invited. Ryan Bean come to the shop. Ryan Bean worked with Wim Hof for 17 years! He is the foremost expert in the West for breath work. Ryan made the drive from his home in Zion were they do cold plunges weekly in the river!
The session was available for free for our members. Everyone felt they took their practice to the next level from this session. The 2 biggest take aways are:
- Down Regulation – Changing the state of the bodies nervous system before entering the water. By doing 2-4 minutes of “4-7-8 breathing” immediately changes the body! This engages the parasympathetic nervous system, which promotes relaxation & helps stress response. Everyone felt a difference to their ice bath with this practice.
- Warm Up – Blood moves to your organs when you enter the cold water to protect them. When you exit the water slowly. It is best to move around is a smooth flow motion or air squats to re-circulate the warm blood. Ryan advised not to shake your hands & feet this can cause nerve damage.
